I know it is the worst thing you can do and honest, hand on heart, I really try not to do it.

But when it has been raining soggy all day and then the cloud lifts and you can see the sun fighting it’s way into the next Dale, for the sake of my clients we go for it.

That’s the advantage of knowing an area and the roads well for many years - straight as the crow flies minus the odd bend or two.

That’s what happened during the last workshop in Swaledale but I was determined my clients were going to get a good shot with good light and by breaking the rules, we did it.

But of course the workshops are much more than rain and chasing light, it’s a chance to get in the zone, bubble up, forget about the i-things and charge up the soul or the mind whatever you would like to call it, breathe in fresh air, tickly those little grey cells.

I think that’s what we all strive for these days in our photography workshops and it’s this wholistic approach that I try and achieve.
